There's no MOM In WOMAN...

A very interesting convo popped on Twitter today...it's such a cool thing when that happens...

It all started with this....
Then I responded with this...

And boy did it go from there...there were some great Mom'ism floating around...like these...
This was one of my Fave statements...so true...

Lots of fab convo went on in between but you get the just of it. Adding "MOM" to normal words to make them cutesie is not endearing.

Mommy Blogger and MomPreneur are too words that make me cringe...even more than Epic & Awesome Sauce...I know you can feel that!

We don't call Donal Trump a DADpreneur and why the hell can't we just say BLOGGER...

I have gotten more than one tongue lashing for making this statement around my friends that are mothers...But I stand by it 100% ...

I am and always will be a WOMAN first !

The reason I say this is not because being a Mother means any less to me... for sure it doesn't.
But if I lose...Dee Brun The Woman...then what kind of Mother can I be???
Is it not important to teach and show our children, especially our daughters who WE really are, as a person, not just 3 letters...M.O.M or D.A.D

I am in the process right now of trying to teach my two toddlers my first name...because I have one.
Not sure about you but no where on my birth certificate do I see the word Mom...

I am thankful everyday that I have the blessing of being a mother...it is truly a gift. In the same breath I am so grateful that I know exactly...after many years, fears and tears...who Dee Brun is, and I like her...so do my children.

To all the FABULOUS Women who Blog...and happen to be Mothers...
To all the FABULOUS Women who are Entrepreneurs...and happen to be Mothers...

CHEERS TO YOU!! ...and the name on your birth certificate!

Great post. I actually have a memory of having a pre-teen or early teen argument with my mom about something trivial I am sure and my mom responding with. I'm not just your Mom I am a person too. You need to learn to see me as both. Sadly I never got the chance to know my mom as a person. I was too young and self absorbed when she passed away. As a mother myself now I have a whole new respect for what she said that day. It's something that has stuck with me.

Thanks, Dee!!

Ya, I'm not a fan of "mommy blogger".

And the reference to Donald Trump is perfect!!!

I loathe the term "mommyblogger."

My god. Yes, I am a mommy and yes, I am a blogger. But oh my heavenly days, I write about me and things I love and things I hate and weird experiences at the gas station. Being a mommy doesn't DEFINE me. It's just one of the MANY parts of me!

Shidazzle, this is fantastic! I had lost myself in 'Mommy' and only found my way back to 'Mara' three years ago. Last time I looked we don't wipe boogey noses at the office.

Thank you! I find the term Mompreneur to be condescending. It carries a slight implication akin to a little pat on the head along with a "there there look what the little Mrs. did". I prefer blogger or lifestyle blogger. And sorry, I am guilty of the odd Awesome, but I promise there are no Epics ever uttered from my mouth!

I agree - there should be no "mom" in enterpreneur or blogger or any other occupation for that matter. I'm so much more than just "mom" and I think it's time we drop that "mom" label we give ourselves! Once we do, others will follow!
